SiTeMan visits I4S
Prof. Abdul Mouazen of Ghent University (Belgium) and a team of co-workers from his precision agriculture project SiTeMan has visited I4S at the ATB from February 14th to 15th 2018. SiTeMan is an acronym for "Towards Establishing a Centre of Site-specific Technology for Soil and Crop Management". The aim of the project is to establish a research platform combining cutting-edge soil and crop sensors, modelling and system control technology for managing farm resources site-specifically, with the final goal of establishing a precision agriculture centre in Flanders. This project is funded by 3.5 Million Euro from the prestigious Odysseus grant of the Flanderns Research Foundation. Prof. Mouazen is one of the very few leading scientists in proximal soil sensing. Proximal soil sensors and a multi-sensor platform are forming the core of the SiTeMan project. Approaches in both projects, SiTeMan and I4S, are very similar. We had a lively and fruitful discussion. Based on the mutual understanding we agreed on further cooperation, which will include exchange of scientist, sensors and soil samples as well as the initiation of common projects.

I4S at the agritechnica 2017. The presentation of the I4S project took place at the booth of the Technical University of Munich at 12. - 18. November 2018. About 140 contacts were made with visitors. A new soil analysis system based on ion-selective electrodes was shown, developed by project partner HSG. A video demonstrated the benefits of sensor based high resolution soil maps for modelling nutrient and growth dynamics.
